About the event

More about Habso

Habso was born in a Kenyan refugee camp and was fortunate enough to emigrate to the United States when she was 9 years old. She is an active, vibrant, and curious individual with an enigmatic personality that helps her captivate, inspire, and influence her audiences.

Habso focuses on mental health, identity and representation. Her storytelling is globally recognized for her innovative approach to fostering relationships across lines of differences and breaking barriers. She has told stories through different mediums, ranging from radio to television interviews and print media, to raise awareness about diversity, access, equity, and inclusion. She firmly stands up for all children who have become marginalized in the educational system.

Currently, Habso is actively voicing her concerns about standard exclusions faced in public education, specifically how immigrants and refugees experience exclusion. Habso is an example of what is possible when we say yes to a child.
